hard drive adaptor

just collected damaged unit.
appeares to need an adaptor from the hard drive to the socket in the machine.
can anybody tell me where i can find one

Sounds like you either have a SATA HDD & a board with IDE/PATA connectors, or vice-versa. You need a controller card.

thanks for the help.
the connectors in the bottom of the hard drive slot in the lap top appear to be like the old style strip of flat pins we used to see on the back of pc's.
when hard drive is fitted into its caddy there is about 1/2" gap between the hard drive pins and the strip of flat pins.
possibly some sort of adaptor fits onto the hard drive and it all pushes onto the strip of pins ??
would this be possible.

You may need to have a caddy for the drive.

Was the hard drive missing when you got the laptop?

What is the model of the laptop?

As jam mentioned you may need the other type of drive.

You didn't state it was a laptop in your original post.

You need to get the correct type of drive. There is no adapter unless you wanna run it externally?
