my hard disk won't boot...
fdisk, format, seatools, disk wizard, ranish partition, xosl, and everything else I could think of, doesn't work...
i can access the drive when i boot from a floppy..
i can also access it when I put it in another computer with a working harddisk...
what elso can I do ?

won't boot?? what do you mean??
can you describe more for your problem?
did you set the boot sequence in the bios to hadd drive first?? also make sure your hard drive settings in the bios is configured correctly..check ur cables too as well.

ryan,
boot sequence, HDD, Floppy, then CDROM
can't find boot sequence in HDD, had to boot from floppy or CDROM...
i previously didn't have this problem...
it just suddenly won't boot...
the bios is configured correctly...
i don;t think the cables are defective, because i can access the drive after booting from a floppy (DOS)...
i tried reinstalling windows, but after copying the files and the system restarts, the installation doesn't continue because the system can't boot from the hard drive...
i tried formatting the hard disk, but near the end of the format, an error message appears, saying :"an error has occured"
i also tried fdisk, but I only get to the "large drive support" question, after typing "Y" and pressing enter, an error occurs. i can't even get to the fdisk options...
i tried using seagate's disk wizard and seatools, but none of them seems to work...
they both start, but i can't get to the program menu, i just go back to the command prompt...
i've used ranish's partition and XOSL, nothing works...
i tried putting the disk as a slave in another working computer running win98, i can access the disk w/o any problems...i hope someone can help me out...
thanks in advance...

HI
I would start all over. Go the hdd manufacture site download and run their test utility program. If that works run the write 0's program to clean all data from hdd. when thats done do what ever needs done for Winxp installation, on a clean hdd.

Does your BIOS see the harddrive as Master#1?
I would try changing the data cable for the HD. When they begin to go out they get fussy with random problems. I just had one go bad for no good reason last week. Had me talking to myself for two days until in desparation I pulled it off and the plastic socket fell apart in pieces in my hand.

finally got Disk Wizard from Seagate to work.
i made the hard disk a slave in another computer and the disk wizard ran...
i'm not sure why it didn't work before and why it worked the next time i tried it...
i'm just glad it worked...
thanks for all the suggestions...
