Hard Disk Will Not Format!

the hard disk will not format! it gets to 65% and then gives an error! what do i do? tried the harddrive manufacturers website for the relevant tool but that didnt work either!

Try to run "Scandisk" and see what happens there. Could be a bad HDD.

Most of the time the reason that an installation hangs is because you have old data/partitions left over on your disk. Use FDISK utility on your WIN98 boot disk to double-check your disk. If FDISK registers five (5) options, you have extended partitions and logical drives that must be removed.

Depends on how big your hard drive is. You BIOS might not be able to see it, get a little more then half way then can't "see" anymore.

Are you saying that your hard drive manufacturers "zero disk" utility did not work? If so, then I suggest you download their diagnostics program, if it fails, call to see if the drive is still under warranty, if it doesn't fail try their "zero disk" utility again. If it then works, repartition and reformat.
