Comment: PC was running normally before. When I boot up my pc now, I get a message'hard disk failure! Insert system disk.Tried autodetect hard disk on setup but PC now not autodetecting i.e hard disk is not recognized as being there. I would like to access the hard disk and preferably recover the data. Any suggestions? hard disk > Fujistu 30gb.It was already partioned in to C:E:F:. D: partion was a SCSI drive

Reply: (edit)Sounds like the disk is dead. Get a new drive set up, then try to access the old as a slave, maybe in DOS. I'm sure others may have suggestions, but I know of no other affordable options. Cheers

Reply: (edit)I agree.. Sounds like a dead drive... I hope you back everything up on your SCSI drive. Before giving up hope, recheck all of your cables to make one didn't come loose, especially if your case is open. My case is usually open, and my cat has unplugged stuff before. hehe Does it power on/spin up when you start the system? How old is the drive? If not too old, maybe try contacting the manufacturer.

Reply: (edit)If you here it spin up when you press that power button I would make a boot disk with Fdisk on and see if it will recognise the hard drive just to make sure.
