hard disk not detecting

Specs: Windows XP
By mistake i have connected the Powe supplay in wrong
direction to my segate HDD. Now my HDD drive is not
detecting in BIOS settings.some burning smell is coming
from HDD.Can i excahange my HDD or will it work?

I doubt if you will exchange it. Not many warranties cover misuse.

It is unlikely it will ever work again as shoving 12 volts where only 5 volts is mean to go is guaranteed to break something. The burning smell should be a clue that something is seriously wrong.
