Test in other machine. May not be fully supported in your system. Might have to set a cylinder limit jumper.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

Is this new hard drive the only one in the PC? Did you format the drive before installing? Were you able to install Win XP to it?

Watch the POST screens at start up to see if ALL your drives are properly identified by BOTH the model and the FULL capacity.

Is the hard drive a PATA/IDE or a SATA type hard drive?

What is the hard drive model number and your motherboard or computer system model number?

I think your BIOS setting select as Floppy disk/CD-Rom drive Ist boot disk.Plz check and set as CD-Rom or IDE drive.

You are dispensing bad advice in several threads.

sheuzee

The messages for the floppy and CD drives are normal if there is not boot able disks in those drives.

Your hard drive evidently is not configured correctly. Read #3 above.
