http://computing.net/windows95/wwwboard/forum/139012.html Hello, that is a link to a guy with problems on another forum. I thought he just messed up his hard drive partitions with partition magic and was going to help him fdisk and remove them and start over; now he has other problems that seem to be hardware related. I don't think his bios can just lose the hard drive; he has not been inside the computer (yet) so he has not messed with any cables ect. What are the odds that the hard disk failed just as he was about to reformat? I am now leaning towards a ram problem...anyone care to comment here or take a look at his problem and join his forum to Cliff?

Start from the beginning. Check hard drive cable and power connector. Sounds to me as though the BIOS isn't seeing the hard drive. It's happened to me once when I first ventured into Linux territory. God knows how it would affect the BIOS, but it did. It wasn't even a corrupt MBR, the BIOS just 'lost' the drive settings. I've read the previous posts and you said that you don't mind losing your data sooooo go into the BIOS and manually redetect your hard drive. Most newer drives will require the LBA setting. After it redetects the drive (hopefully),save settings, exit BIOS and put your bootdisk in. When you get to an A: prompt it is actually FDISK /MBR that you type (space after fdisk). This should recreate a good MBR. Reboot and try FDISK again to see if any of your old partitions are visible. If they are but none are active, try making the primary active again. Reboot and see if any progress. Hope this helps. I know how annoying the 'No fixed disk' message is, but it doesn't necessarily mean all is lost.......
