tryin to access my hard disk a msg appears file or directory is corrupted n unreachable
the hard disk is a slave i do not want to format it coz of useful data.

Try a program called Spinrite.

Just google it.

Try a Linux program them.

It'll take a little work, but you should be able to recover your data.

Just don't try and put the linux on the same disk as the problem.

Okey im assuming you can go inside windows and the OS is detecting the HD.
So have you tried using checkdisk? Does your HD has a logical drive? or an active partiton?

i tried checkdisk in vain
it doesnt have a partition, by zone alarm do u mean any antivirus? i got avast

wat linux program? am using windows Xp

I freaking hate it when people cry about losing data... HATE IT. People need to realize that all the special grand kids photos and quick books files they put on a HDD are at risk to be lost at any point, thats why the smart person backs up his HDD every month or every three months. You have no choice kid. You need to back up, nuke and reload. Why do people always wait to have a problem before they need there data off?
