Hi to everyone, my computer having problem to booth from Window 2000. Everytime when I start my computer, my computer will freeze when it comes to the point which it shows Verifying DMI Pool Data.

Wheen I have this hard disk (Western Digital 160GB) plug in to another computer as a slave, it will cause the second computer freeze too. But if I unplug this hard disk, the second computer can booth normally and login to window.

Is my Western Digital hard gone? I have used the window 2000 Cd to repair it, but it doesn't fix the problem. I can access the D:\ but not the C:\. Can someone please help me to solve this problem. I know I can re-format the hard disk but I do have some important documents which I need to retrieve before I format this hard disk. Thank you so much for the helps.

If you have a floppy drive in the system you could download Western Digital's Data Lifegaurd Diagnostics to make a bootable floppy. Then connect only the 160gb drive, boot from the floppy and run the diagnostics to see if the drive is bad. You can get Western Digital's Data Lifegaurd Diagnostics here:

Make sure you read any warnings carefully. If you choose the wrong option, you could erase your data.

I had tried the WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostics method, but it shows no error on the hard disk. I just wonder is there a way I can boot into C:\ so that I can have my important files move to D:\? Thanks.
