Hi My friend has got into a bit of a mess with his pc. Does the hard drive jumper have to be set to master? Does the cd-rom have to be set as slave? He only has these two pieces of hardware attached to his pc.

There are two IDE slots on the motherboard, Primary and Secondary, the HDD should be set as Master and connected to the Primary IDE. The cd-rom should be set as Master and connected to the Secondary IDE slot. HTH Mathew
