After installing Nero, my computer doesn't boot. It hangs indefenitely in a full black screen. Checking the BIOS the hard drives (I have 2 disks) are gone......
I don't know if it related to the fact that I am experiencing frequent espontaneous stops (might be due to temperature, but not sure, might be power source)
How can I fix it?thx
thanks
santiago

Your problem may having nothing to do with you just installing Nero.
I'm not sure what you mean by spontaneous stops - are they freezes, black screens, blue screens; is the computer shutting down or rebooting for no apparent reason?
The most frequent causes of problems like yours are you have a defective power supply, or you have a cpu overheating problem.
Failing power supplies are common and can cause your symptoms.
"Checking the BIOS the hard drives (I have 2 disks) are gone......" If the hard drives are not getting their required power they cannot be recognized by the bios. Bad PSs can cause problems at any time regardless of whether the computer has warmed up, but are more likely to give you problems when the computer is more heavily stressed, such as while booting, or while burning a CD or DVD, or while playing a demanding game.
Check your PS.
See response 4 in this:
http://www.computing.net/hardware/w...Overheating of your cpu problems at first happen only when the computer has warmed up, but later on may give you constant problems because the cpu is by then damaged.
Check the current temp of your cpu in the bios Setup after the computer has warmed up.
Remove the power to your case, open up the case, and make sure the cpu fan and cpu heat sink are free of accumulated mung. If they are dirty you may need to remove the fan to properly clean the top of the heat sink.
Restore the power to your case, boot the computer, and make sure the cpu fan spins the proper speed (the PS must be okay), and that is not making any rattling or rumbling or screeching sounds (those sounds are more likely to occur when the computer is started after having cooled to room temp).
If the cpu fan does not spin at all do not use the computer until you have replaced the fan - if you are fortunate the cpu is not damaged and the computer will work fine once the cpu fan has been replaced. If the cpu fan makes noises or spins too slowly, replace the fan as soon as you can.
