I have bought a new LG lcd screen, and it appears to have a green pixel near the bottom left corner. this is starting to get on my nerves. what can be done?

Most likely a bad pixel on the lcd. You'll want to request a replacement for it if that's the case. Mark

It's called a dead pixel. A dead pixel can either be on all the time (white), or off (black). Each pixel is made of 3 colors (red, green, blue), and that's a rarer case of dead pixels. There are several levels of tolerances for lcd screens. The highest one demands no dead pixels (it's rare for manufacturers to follow this one). I think most lcd manufacturers go for the 4 dead pixel level. If the dead pixel is near the center, they'll usually make an exception. If it's near the end, you have to deal with it. Although, the red/green/blue ones (the rarer case) might have an exception as well. You need to call the manufacturer and talk to them about it. See if they're willing to replace it under warranty for you. If not, then live with it or return it to the store (paying for restocking fees, etc.) Until you meet the requirements (4 dead pixels), the manufacturers consider it working perfectly. That's just how the lcd business is

To add to Name's reply, every manufacturer has different warranty policies. Local stores like Bestbuy, CompUSA, have auxillary warranties that offer better coverage.

i don't think that color changing pixels and dead pixels are the same thing....i've been looking all over the web for my problem and can't find anything....this is the 2nd lcd monitor i bought and both of them had this problem....it is not permanent visible pixels or permanent invisible pixels....what it is....is pixels that change color when another color is next to it....some colros make it happen more than others....this is when you are in windows.....when you are in dos or in boot up the color changing pixels are more visible no matter what colors are next to the pixels.....and another difference between dead pixels and this problem is...it is not one pixel here and there it is one long line of pixels or many lines of pixels....i would think this is an automatic refund or exchange, right?
