So I bought a gaming computer that was built for me. It has an ASUS motherboard with integrated graphics. I've been playing CSS and WoW for 3 or 4 weeks now with no issues but I want to get my FPS in WoW up and run higher settings. So I bought a GeForce 8500 GT with 1GB PCI-E. I installed the card and downloaded the drivers for XP 64 bit OS. Everything seemed fine and all of a sudden while just at the desktop, I clicked on the taskbar to see what options i had with the card. The screen image froze and pink blobs appeared around my background image. So I restarted and I didnt seem to have any problems. I launched WoW and it tried to start and immediately flashed a blue screen and restarted. I can't see what the error is, it flashes too fast. I tried to run benchmark and it did the same thing. I can go online and surf but if I do anything with video card options or try to run a game, it crashes or freezes. Any ideas on what could be happening here, or is this card DOA?

Gaming machines don't use integrated graphics.

Weren't there any crappier cards available? lol. The 8500GT is better than integrated graphics, but it's not a gaming card. And since it has 1GB memory, it's probably slower than 512MB cards. You could have done a LOT better.

If the card was DOA, it wouldn't work at all. Did you enter the BIOS & disable the integrated graphics? Did you change the "shared memory" setting to none? Did you change the "Initial display first" setting to PCI-e? Did you uninstall the old graphics drivers?

Is this the driver you used?

Yes, I have the right drivers and I uninstalled the old drivers. Let me re-phrase for you. It's a tower that is only meant for gaming and was bought on a budget. I paid $350 and it has 4GB of liquid cooled ram and a liquid cooled heat sink with fan on the CPU. I really don't see how criticizing my post helps, but thanks for the effort. I play WoW and CSS, can't you tell im a hardcore gamer? lol
I did get it to work somehow after like 10 restarts. I can run games and everything fine but I still get the very occasional freeze up and again the pink blobs appear. WoW runs at 127 fps but i occasionally see blips accross the screen. This is very annoying, should I just take the card back?
