Reply: (edit)Pukka According to the Gigabyte website there are two revisions of your board (1.x & 2.x). Regarding the graphics card it indicates that the rev. 1x boards accept: '1 x AGP slot (8x/4x, AGP 3.0 compliant), supports 1.5v display card only' Whereas the rev 2.x boards accept: '1 x AGP slot (8x/4x, AGP 3.0 compliant)' (They don't have the voltage limitation.) You need to determine firstly which revision of the board you have. This is usually printed on the board somewhere (try the lower left corner). Others with more experience can help you with suitable cards for the board. What CPU and how much RAM do you have? Reply: (edit)Don't sink too much money into that old setup. A decent CPU will cost you at least $75, 2GB RAM is gonna cost you $150-200, a decent video card will cost you another $100, & then there's the possibilty that you'll need to upgrade the power supply. Are you prepared to drop $300+ into this system? The Duron is NOT better than the Athlon. Don't buy a Duron! Your board doesn't support 400FSB CPUs, so stick with 333FSB CPUs. If you can pickup an AthlonXP Barton cheap, go for it...otherwise, consider a Sempron. Here's your CPU support list: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/... If you haven't updated your BIOS, that will be necessary to support the Sempron: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/... Here's a pretty good price ($68) for an AthlonXP 2500+ Barton: http://www.starmicro.net/detail.asp...

Reply: (edit)High performance AGP video cards MUST be connected to the power supply, so your 350W unit will have to be able to handle the added load, otherwise it will need to be upgraded along with everything else. Here's some rough numbers: AXP 2500+ = $75 heatsink/fan for above = $20 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC3200 = $175 256MB 8X AGP video card = $100 (at least) 500W PSU = $50 Total = $420 Are you willing to spend that kinda money on an old machine? Otherwise, keep the CPU you have, add another 512MB to the 256MB you already have, & get a cheap 8X AGP video card that doesn't require the PSU connection. You can get a Radeon 9600XT at Newegg.com for about $60 (shipped).
