Graphics card upgrade: 240gt worth it?

Hewlett-packard / A6407c

Specs: Windows Vista, 4400+Brisbane/3gb
well I upgrade from onobard graphics about a
year ago to a sparkle 9400gt 1gb ddr2, but you
all suggest either the 9500gt or 4670, but I
didn't listen.

now I'm thinking I need more power and the
240gt looks just right.

now if I was able to run the 9400gt on this
crappy psu 300 18amps I should be able to
run the 240gt right? says the same minimum requirements?

and how much more performance do you think
I will get with switching?

current card

A year ago? It was only 4 months ago!

We warned you that the 9400GT was a crappy card for gaming & I'm fairly sure no one recommended a 9500GT either. The Radeon HD 4670 has been the "darling" of the forums for some time now. It has excellent bang-for-your-buck gaming performance plus low power consumption & will work on just about any system with a decent 250W PSU or better.

That's true, but the GT 240 with GDDR5 performs as good or better than the 9600GT. And considering it can be found for about $75 & has roughly the same power consumption of the HD 4670, it *may* just become the new "darling"
