I have this configuration for a new build:

coolermaster ammo 533 case
aerocool Modular 550W power supply
ASUS A8N-SLI Premium Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard
athlon 64 x2 4400+
ZALMAN CNPS7700-CU 120mm 2 Ball Cooling Fan with Copper Heatsink
Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD3200KS 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
G.SKILL Extreme Series 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 500 (PC 4000) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit System Memory Model

I can't for the life of me figure out what graphics card to get. I don't really play games (at least not now...I'm building like I won't have to again for quite some time and playing games online may be in my future). I burn DVDs and want to be able to have good graphics quality if I want to watch a movie or use graphics/video related programs. The board I listed above has 3 pci slots and I'll need all three so I don't want a graphics card that'll end up covering one of the pci slots up. I'd rather have a PCI express card and preferably one that doesn't take a lot of power or heat up easily. I've been told by a couple friends that XFX PV-T71G-UDE7 GeForce 7900 GT EXTREME (520MHz) 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card is a good choice. It's about $289 on New Egg and I don't mind spending that much. I just want to be sure of compatability and get suggestions for a card. Stupid question here (I can put parts together fine but knowing how they work together and the finer points eludes me so I have to ask these kinds of questions!)but is this set-up I have configured going to suck electric bad? Thanks for any ideas and suggestions. This place rocks for help!

the thing is....how long in the future will you be playing games?
If you decide to play within 6 months, than this card you suggested is good.
But if you won't be playing for a year or so, in my opinion you'll be better off with a cheaper X1300 or GeForce 6600 and then you can later buy the die hard gaming card (and sell your current) Because the prices will definitely drop within a year.
Anyway those are just my thoughts, let's see what others suggest.

Good luck

I suggest if you plan to go on a budget to get either the 1600 Pro, Or 7600 GS, those are by far the best cards for bellow 150 dollars.
