Hello,

I know there are three types of graphics cards; PCI, AGP, and PCI Express.

Is there anything i need to know in terms of diff types of cards that will not work or damage my pc if its not compatible with my mobo, or are they all compatible and work the same?. IE: ddr sdram etc. If I have any kind of PCI Express card and shove it in, will all of those cards work?

Each type of card requires its own type of slot/port. Pretty much all desktops have PCI slots, so there's no compatibility issue there. The newest motherboards support PCI-e graphics cards. Slightly older motherboards may support AGP but not PCI-e.

It doesn't matter what kind of memory a video card uses--SDRAM, DDR SDRAM, DDR2, etc. The video card is using the memory, not your motherboard.

If your motherboard has a PCI-e x16 slot, put a PCI-e video card in it.

If your motherboard has an AGP port, install an AGP video card in it.

If your motherboard has neither, you are stuck with PCI video cards or onboard video.

If you "shove" cards into slots not designed for them, you're asking for a new upgrade project.
