Hello! I have an old Packard Bell PC which came with a Cyrix MII- 300 CPU (Socket 7). After the CPU fan died, the CPU also died. I found an old Acer computer with an Intel Pentium 200Mhz in it (Socket 7 CPU) and I decided to put that into the Packard Bell to get it running. It now boots up and POST beeps, which it didnt do before with the dead CPU, but after the Award BIOS screen exits (after it detects the Primary and Slave drives) the monitor goes into Sleep/Standby Mode, as if you turned the PC off. When I tried it with my Compaq CV750 or something like that, it gave me a message about the Monitor Frequency is too High. Change the resolution or consult the User's Guide. In that old Acer PC, there was a bigger HD which I put in the Packard Bell. I dont know if there is or is any OS on it. I cannot even boot from a CD though... The screen goes into standby right after the BIOS screen disapears and right before the PC checks for Bootable Disks. How do I get around this? I've tried multiple Monitors and had no luck. I am using the Integrated Graphics.

Thanks in Advance,

Nick

You apparently burned out the M2 because you tried to run it without a fan.

You can't just take out an M2-300 & replace it with a P200 without changing the jumper settings for FSB, multiplier & CPU voltage...you'll burn out the CPU. And you can't just switch HDDs from one OEM system to another either

If there were any guided I could find, that would be an option, but I have no clue what the Mobo is. And, yes I can switch out another HD from a completly different system to use for mine. As long as it doesnt have Windows NT 4, 5, 5.1, or 5.2, etc. I can just format it using my Partition Magic Boot Disks, but It would kind of help if my PC would boot. If I checked for a Model # on the Mobo would I be able to find docs on it?
