Comment:

hi guys. I was playing oblivion earlier with all graphics on full, my computer is in an enclosed space and it over heated (i was playing for nearly 4 hours). I went to play again and arround 30 mins in my computer PSU failed and shut down - that overheated too.
I leaft my computer for arround 1 hour to cool down and i came back to it and installed ATI TRAY TOOLS to monitor temperatures. I played a bit more oblivion and there my computer shut down again and i found to my horrer that the graphics card fan wasn't spinning (i think it is only on this boot because usually it spins at 100% during POST and i can hear it.

Anyway. i need help: my computer is oging to turn into a sauna if i dont get this spinning.

I have hoovered it, taken the fan out and made sure it isnt jammed. I have checked the connections.

what should i do

take the cover off the tower, use a small room fan to blow air into the computer while playing the game.
if it works okay, then you know its heat

... i have got the cover off: i have a 80mm fan blowing up the exhaust. i can't run any 3d app yet as the temperature jumps up from the 65C which i have managed to maintain to arround 90C. i am going to return the card under RMA and use the credit note i get from the manufacturer to buy a new (better) one

Get your computer out of the enclosed space...it needs room to "breathe".

Also, you should NEVER vacuum the inside of a computer case. Vacuums cause static that can fry electrical components. In the future, blow the dust out with compressed air, then vacuum the dust off the floor.
