Just got a 6800Ultra,it was working fine.

Then all of a sudden it starts showing lines and spots everywhere.
It even shows lines and garbledness on bootup.

So,I booted up in 'safe' mode and everything looks fine?No line,no mess.
While in safe mode I removed the nvidia drivers and rebooted.

Boot screen all lines and mess but when windows comes in all fine?
Change resolution to 1280x1024 and all is still fine.
Reboot, all a mess but once in windows all fine?

What's going on?

I'll try resetting the bios and see if that makes a difference?

Whenever I try to install nvidia graphics drivers the monitor switches off.

Resetting bios had no affect.
May try flashing to another bios?

it can't be the drivers that cause the rubbish on the post screen as on the post screen it is not using the drivers, the drivers only kick in when booting into windows.
I dont know what it is but i dont see how changing drivers can affect the garbled image on Post screen.

cliffpage is correct, this is not a driver related issue at all.

Not much you can do besides cleaning out card and reseating it. BTW, is this a Leadtek brand?

Are you using AGP or DVI connector to the monitor? If DVI then That may be the source of your problem. There may be an option in bios to enable DVI display during bootup.

I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.

The card has only 2 outputs and they are both DVI.

The monitor I was using only had Dsub and I was using a converter.

I did test with my DVI monitor but it was just the same.

It was working fine for a few days I benched with 3dmark06,aquamark,pcmark05 etc and no problems.

What I'd like to fathom out is why a great picture with windows own drivers and a mess on bootup etc?

Cards been rma'd now.
