We can't help you find drivers without knowing which video card or onboard graphics you have.

I thought that 1440x900 is a native resolution, thus supported by any driver version?

At a guess, if the OP is relying on basic VGA drivers then they're probably limited to very low resolutions.

Your system is a HP. Have you gone to the HP Compaq website and searched there for drivers for your system?

Agreed, go to HP's site Support>Downloads>Drivers. Find your system by entering your exact (expanded) model number to find what will work best for your system. In the unlikely event that the driver does not support the resolution, you may end up purchasing a compatible video card and possibly a power supply (depending on the power supply that was included AND the video card you select). If you end up upgrading, get a video card suitable for the uses you plan on for now and at least the next couple of years.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
