GPU overheating and shutting down.

Specs: Windows 7
Hi recently my GPU has been overheating while playing certain games. I've fully cleaned it taking it apart etc. But here is the catch. It only overheats in games that I install before the 9th of July. I've recently bought a few games and they work fine but even the simple games like minecraft that I installed before crash my computer. I installed a few programs that record temperature and while I play my new games my GPU is around 40-60 degrees but on the old games it goes up to 100 degrees within a few seconds of playing them then crashes.

I'm not 100% sure if its a video card problem or a hard drive problem or both. Any help would be nice. My computer is 100% clean and free of dust. If you want me to post anything else just tell me. I really don't want to redownload everything because that would waste all my Internet.

You're lacking a lot of info. What brand is your 550 Ti? How about your complete system specs, including the power supply specs (not just wattage), plus the name of the temp monitoring program you're using? Also, what is your CPU temp & motherboard temp? How many case cooling fans do you have & how are they configured?
