My machine reset itself its never done this before so i ignored it then it did it again after 30 mins so i ran a scandisk and defragged hard drive, did it again after about 30 mins! so i took the side off an noticed my fx5200's fan had stopped and it was roasting! so i turned the machine off for 30 mins and restarted it to see if the fan would spin, it didnt and the screen started to go a green colour and back to normal then green whilst i quickly shut down xp! im waiting for my pc shop to open now to get it sorted, could this have damaged my main board? my temps were normal on the chip and board, or will everyhting be fine once the card is replced or will fitting a new fan cure it? or is the gpu fried?

A new fan for the gpu is the first thing to try. Unlikely anything is fried.

Ok took it to the shop and the bloke replaced the fan for me with a slightly better one this one has a small heatsink the origional is just this gold metal lump with a fan no proper heatsink basically the barings had gone i suspect its been faulty for a while, basically ive had it about 7 months and he told me as i have the origional box that if it fails again to take it back and he'l fit the origional fan back on and rma it, so im pretty happy gonna run 3d mark03 now and check for stability! oh yeah it was all free i didnt pay a penny
