I got a cheap dell otpilex to use as a HTPC. I liked it because it's small and lay's flat instead of being a tower.

It's just for playback of movies & music no recording or anything like that. Maybe casual internet browsing too.

Anyhow I got a Logitech wireless keyboard & mouse for like $30 but the distance sucks!

Only like 4 feet. My living room is huge I need a keyboard & mouse that can easily reach 10-15 feet. Any suggestions please?

I'd like to browse from my couch lol.

Also is there anything like a remote conrtol if I decieded to upgrade to windows mce?

Thanks
Chad

As far as a mouse and keyboard goes, I'm surprised the range was so short on the ones you got. I had an old MS Wireless Optical Desktop that was good for 20 or so feet. For a remote, there are several available. I'm using an older ATi Remote Wonder, but there are plenty of others. Check out newegg for some examples. Also instead of upgrading to MCE, you might want to take a look at MediaPortal for HTPC media center software. It's freeware and pretty good software.

Thanks for the mediaportal tip i'd rather use something like that then upgrade to mce. Especially since it's an older pc.

I don't really get the distance issue either. I've tried about every position I can think of with the receiver and the batteries are new.

Movies play ok but I have a bit of lag in my network as movies stagger a bit. I suppose I should upgrade from a 10/100 hub to a switch.
