Comment: Hi, what would be a good video card? My computer will be a amd athlon xp 2100+ with 250mb DDR on a gigabye KT400 7VAXP mobo. I heard raddon(sp) is better with amd processors than geforce but this is my first build so I really don't know about all this stuff. I am not really a hardcore gamer, so I don't need a supper dupper video card. I would like one around 100. I was looking at the raddon(sp) 7500 w/ 64mb DDR video ram. It was around 80 and looked good to me but I don't know. Thanks for any replies!

Reply: (edit)Hey goto www.newegg.com they got good cards there but also just about everything they sell has a customer review on it so you can get a good idea before you buy.

Reply: (edit) Right now the Radeon 9700 Pro is the tops in performance. I generally prefer ATI to NVIDIA-based cards because the latter cards tend to cause problems. I've gotten WinXP "Stop" errors with two different NVIDIA-based machines now.

Reply: (edit)Well digital_atom...first I would keep hitting those grammar and spelling books, just kidding =0). Then after that, J-wolf made a good suggestion...newegg.com is a great site for checking things out. If your budget sits around $100, go nVidia...they rule the whole video card market in almost every aspect in exception to the ultra high-end gaming. The ATI 9700 beats nVidia down pretty bad here, but this does not concern you since these cards sit around $350 to $400. Awoodin, I would check your drivers or something...cause any tech would take an nVidia card over an ATI. BTW...both ATI and nVidia Geforce cards work fine with AMD processors. Now as far as which one to buy digital_atom...if your not gaming then the Geforce4MX 460 sits around your budget...hek you can get any video card your want if your not doing anything graphical. If your a gamer...I would recommend a Geforce 3 for the price...it still out does the Geforce 4 MX models... GL!

Reply: (edit)Yeah, the Nvidia Geforce4 MX 400 series is a great budget choice. You get superior gaming for under $100. I like them, while not the best out there, you get remarkable performance for the money. Make sure you get a money back guarantee as you might not like whatever card you get.
