i have an HP 760n. it is a 1.8ghz /512pc2100 /ati radeon 9000 pro/ soundmax digital/ XP PRO
Its motherboard can support up to 2.4 ghz. would i be able to see a good amount of increased performance when i run apps like games, video editing, music ..... ????
would it be worth upgrading now??
thanks in advance!

Going from 1.8 to 2.4 is probably not going to make a noticeable difference.

It's all up to you. If you want more gaming performance, you might want to upgrade your graphic card to an Radeon 9800 PRO or Geforce FX 5900 Ultra. If your machine is just for basic stuff like internet, email, chatting. Even a Pentium II can do the job without a sweat. However, if video editing, creating movies, adobe photo shop.... etc... Upgrading your Pentium 4 1.8Ghz to 2.4Ghz would be ideal, but not too efficent. When you talk about Mhz 2400/1800, thats only 600Mhz difference, 33.34% difference in clock speed. Anyways, its all upto you. My opinion would be either upgrade the video card for better gaming performance, or add more RAM for better mutilmedia performance.

I think we all need to remember that a 33% increase in clock speed at these flyin' ass speeds will be hard to see. Fast is fast and that 1.8 is no dog.

i agree, however if multi-tasking you might see the increase, but the money would be well spent else were as stated above, some better ram would be nice and a vid card might be a nice upgrade depending on demands, like they said, if you are gamer then go with the vid card, if not then use it on something else like a dig camera or something you will get more use out of, hope this helps
