Today I put my brand spanking new i7 kit all together. The first thing that I was greeted with after plugging everything together, was silence bar the sound of case fans. Basically after I pulled the m/b out of the case and hooked it up with just the, psu, cpu, video card, and no ram, I finally got it to beep. I then gradually put in one stick at a time until I had all three in there, and then also all of my expansion cards. I then did some tweaking in the bios (boot seq, turned all oc features to standard, n turned the gigabyte splash screen off etc).

I then put it back into the case and it was all working fine, even booted up to my previous windows install with minor missing drive issues.

I then took the computer home and the problems started all over again. But now, even though I can get it to post beep, (in an effort to try and get it working i reset the bios), it wont go any further than the gigabyte splash screen. I can press tab key to see the post process SOMETIMES, but it freezes just after checking the ram.

I have seen suggestions of resetting the bios, turning off the computer for 10-15secs, and swapping out ram sticks until it works, but nothing will get it to go any further. I have found a new beta bios but I cannot upload it because it freezes on post.

Does anyone have any ideas?

In the mean time I will continues to muck around. To clarify, the h/w is as follows:

Intel Core i7 920 2.66GHz CPU
Gigabyte GA-EX58-DS4 Bios Rev. F3 M/B
Kingston 6GB DDR3 1066 Kit
Zalman 850watt PSU
HIS Ati Radeon HD 4670 512MB Graphics

Thanx in advance.

What are you using for a power supply? We need to know brand, model #, and amperages on the +3.3v, +5v, & +12v rails.

a bit of embarrassment on my part here. it turns out that the usb w/less receiver for my ms w/less k/b and mouse (MS Entertainment Desktop 8000) causing the comp. not to post. The last thing that I thought of doing was unplugging all of my usb devices connected to the rear usbs. I basically re-plugged the usb devices in one by one after unplugging them all to come to this conclusion. It was a very aggravating night last night.

thanx for reading my epic post.
