I'm in the process of building a computer and I'm having all kinds of weird problems. First, my power supply died, and I got a replacement that SEEMS to be working. It's a generic 400w - iCute is the brand name. In the process of loading WinXP I get many kinds of errors, such as:
-First, the keyboard isn't detected properly and only seems to work if I unplug it and then plug it back in when the computer is already running
-in the windows xp setup I've gotten multiple error messages, i.e. soandso file is corrupted
-sometimes i can get to the formatting step, but the computer basically shuts itself off before it's finished.Could this be a problem with the motherboard, the power supply, or something else I'm not even thinking about? Any help is greatly appreciated because this sucks.

That board had many bios updates since it was first released.
Did you check which version of the bios you have ?
Have you installed the latest bios updates ?
If you havent !!! go to the gygabite site and down load all the bios update files IN ORDER.
Load the Bios image files only on several floppy disks, and update your bios one by one IN ORDER OF RELEASE.
That part is most important, you MUST RESET the bios to fail safe deafults first, and reboot, install the new the bios updates in order, eg f16, f17, f18 etc.
I know this board well, you will find the updates fix many issues.
Once you have installed the last one and rebooted set the bios in the way you want and need and relaod the OS.
See how you go with that.

"install the new the bios updates in order, eg f16, f17, f18 etc"
You don't have to install each one, just get the latest version...all fixes from previous versions will be included
How about listing your system specs? Which 3000+ do you have & how do you have it clocked? What type RAM...PC2100, PC2700, PC3200?
"If you can read this, thank a teacher"
"If you are reading it in English, thank a veteran."

Jam I desagree with you.
Gygabyte stress this point with their boards.
Install updates in order, as some actualy update the bios checksum.
If you get them out of order they will not fix everything.
I sugest you have a look at the gigabyte site and their bios instructions if you dont bealive me.
Regards
