I am upgrading a machine for a friend which had a 650Duron in it. I reformatted the hard drive and put XP on it. I then put the 1Gig processor in it. When I started it up it just sat there, it did nothing. So I went to the Gigabytes faq and it said to update the Bios. No problem, so I updated the Bios to F9 and rebooted with the 650 in the system. After a successful reboot I figured it would be ok to put the 1Gig in so I did. When I rebooted again it seemed that all was well. This time it actually started loading, I can access the Bios but when I exit Bios it does SYSTEM CHECK OK, then it kind of goes through a listing of my hardware, ie. harddrive(maxtor), cdrom, cdrom, then it stops, nothing from there on out. I'm not sure why it is hanging up there but i'm sure its something simple. I have unplugged all the hardware and tried to eliminate issues but it always does the same thing. Help me if you can, I would appreciate it. Thank You!

No it wouldn't. I figured it out though. I took out the cmos battery and then I cleared the cmos. Also for some reason whoever put this board together didnt hook up the internal speaker and all the led jumpers and reset button was not tied into the board correctly, I'm not quite sure how it ever worked before,,hehe. Thank you for your repy though. Have a Merry Christmas!
