OS: Vista home basic
CPU/Ram: 1.99 GB
Model/Manufacturer: Compaq
Comment:
Currently I have a Intel(R) 82945G Express Chipset Family and It's not meeting my standards for playing games. I am not sure what I need to do to get better graphics power to play games like portal or doom 3. will my motherboard let me buy a graphics card or will I have to get something else. I am a little confused on what I need to do.

On-board graphics are not gaming friendly, therefore you need to buy a suitable Graphics Card.

Compaq's Support Site have the specs:

You have a pci-e 16x slot so basically the sky is your limit taking into consideration your PSU and obviously budget?

ok thank you I just wasn't sure my options. I have budget for up to 150 dollars. So if I can afford one I'm not looking at anything top of the line but just to make my games have decent frame rates.
