Comment:

I never had a problem with graphics but when I updated my Motherboard to an Athlon XP 3000+, my games graphics cut out in the middle of midgame playing. With Doom 3, they go completely black and I can hear audio, UT2004 screen gets all fuzzy and I can't see anything and HL2 is unplayable.
I have tried the following to fix but nothing makes it better or worst.

1. Installed all Win2000 service packs
2. Updated and Downgraded all drivers (Nvidias new drivers don't work as well as I found out before installing my new board.)
3. Installed the correct Direct X version.

I just put together a computer for my friend using all the same parts but the graphics card and sound card so I suspect its one of those. And all other programs run great without a problem.

My system consist of
Geforce FX 5500 card 256meg
512 DDR 400mhz
Sound Blaster Audigy
Athlon Xp 3000+ chip
K8M800-M2 motherboard by Elitegroup

My friends computer is exactly the same but
60 gig hard disk instead of my 100gig
ATI Radeon SE 9600
Sound Blaster Live

Usually I am really good at figuring this out but right now, I am clueless, please help and write back at Budwise_thefirst@juno.com

Ok...

I have emailed you to look back, but we post on here, so others might get insight to there computer problems when they come here.

I would DEFINITELY check the heat on your gfx card.

The only thing you did not post is the wattage of your power supply. If it is under powered, then your graphics card will be running scorching hot.

Warning. I mean, REALLY hot. If you're going to feel it while it runs, careful!

Check the heat on everything. Make sure all fans are working too.

Mmmm, you say you upgraded your motherboard and cpu, but not the power supply. I am starting to think it very likely is that, lol.

Wow, glad to hear you all speak up.

First, I am running a brand new 450 watt supply I bought two months ago.

My last board was from the same manufacturer, it was an Athlon XP 1700+

I don't overclock ANYTHING!!! At least not on purpose. I will try to underclock it a little if it will work.

Okay, I'm stupid, I just never over/underclocked anything before,

Just how do I underclock my GFX Card?

Thanks, it was heat. I took off the computer case and touched the GFX card and it felt fine, but I cleaned the fan on the card and put my living room fan up to where I removed the side panel, walla, I can now play Doom 3 and UT2004.
