Happy new year to all you pc boffins out there, maybe one of you could help?
I have Windows ME installed on a Fujitsu P2 350 MHZ.I am attempting to install a Verto Gforce4 MX 420 PCI graphics card and all i get at start up is a Blank Screen with 5 beeps. I have upgraded my power supply from 150 watts to 400 watts. This didnt help.I can only assume my PC is not PCI 2 compliant which the card requires. How do i find out if it is and can it be upgraded ? Please help !!

Before you go and spend more money, find out what BIOS you have, go to the web page and find out what those beep error codes mean.

Thanks dave. My BiOS appears to be Pheonix V4.00 or 1.10. I'm not sure which reading denotes it.My beeps are:
1 long one followed by 4 short ones. When i take out the card and use my default VGA everything is ok (My default vga is only 4mb)and after looking at the table of beep codes they appear to blame the motherboard?
My last 3dcard worked fine untill it gave up.It was a PCI 3d prophet 32 mb and i had no probs installing it or playing games despite having a beep warning of 1 long one followed by 3 short ones.

Ok...All you have to do is update your bios not upgrade UPDATE..because I basically have the same bios and the same card with the same problem and I updated the bios and it works now...

You have to go to your motherboard makers website. There you download a program that you install onto a floppy. Put the floppy into the system before boot and follow on screen. It might vary a bit but thats the basic jist.
