I'm probably going to be buying a new power supply soon, I have a cheap raidmax right now, its working, but I wan't something a bit better. Anyone know of a solid power supply, that is under 50 bucks with 400w? I'm looking at this allied one, would this be any good?

Not to sound rude but the question is rather loaded. In essence it says-

I want a quality product but want to pay an offshore price.

If you want a good power supply then spend the money and buy one. If you want to pinch pennies then you get what you get.

There must be 15 brands of psus that are in the low price range. Allied is one, so is raidmax, powmax, powerup, powermagic, etc. I've had one of most of these brands and have yet to have a problem, but the problem is you can't quantify field failure rates from one or even ten experiences. That supply may be fine or it may not. My view is that if you do not have a high powered vid card and will not overclock your odds are pretty good that a cheap supply will work fine. There are no sure bets other than PC Power & Cooling.

A step up from allied is fortron, and their 350w from newegg is $32. Quiet too.

Michael:

I have always heard, read about and had good experiences with Sparkle, Enermax and Antec Power Supplies.

For $56 ($6.00 outside of your price range) there is an Antec SL400 400 watt Power Supply here: http://www.directron.com/sl400.html

If I was buying the Power Supply I would spend the $6.00 more for a "name-brand, quality" Power Supply.

Yes, I understand that you get what you pay for, and reading over my question, I phrased it wrong. I meant around 50 bucks, I've always heard good things about Antec, and I might go with them. Thanks for the help guys
