getting into cmos

CPU/Ram: 1.8 duron

hey i have an compaq armada 4220t laptop and i need to access the cmos to change the boot sequence. i want to install xp but it wont boot from the disk. i tried hitting a few of the f keys but it wont work. any advice would be appricated, thanks.

Well, usually the Del key will do it. You may have to keep hitting it while booting up. Also, there is sometimes a quick message on the boot screen telling you which key to hit. You may have only a few seconds to do it. Failing all this, try going to the Compaq site and looking into the manual.

use xp start up disks
available at bootdisk.com

or
use a 98 startup disk
at the a prompt type d:\i386\winnt (d name of cdrom drive)
should get installation going
