Comment:

I have to get into a very very old Siemens Noxdorf Scene computer case - flat desktop type. It currently is windows 98, 200mhz cpu, 32 Ram; 2 GB HDD.
I cannot work out how to open the case:-(
It has a standadrd type front (floppy; cd drive etc) but at the two front sides there appears to be two small parts (about and 1ich wide) on one side it has a lock (I have the key) and underneath the lock it looks like you put a card (credit card size) into it.
I have search all over but I cannot work out how to open it.........anyone got any idea please

TIA

Have you tried asking the maker direct?

From Google:-

http://www.wincor-nixdorf.com/inter...

Here you can lnk through to the support pages, now fujitsu-siemens.com for the scenic models.

In addition to the name, you will require the model and maybe serial number.

Advise how you get on.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.

Try this web site - they are the successor to Siemens-Nixdorf and have a lot of info about the older models.
http://www.fujitsu-siemens.com/

I can also point you to info about the older mboards if you're interested.

Many thanks to BOTH of you. I managed to download the manual (in German); I can't speak a word of it (LOL) but I understood the drawings. My god how embarrassing, it was so easy to open up..........you just tyrned the key to unlock and lifted it from the back.
Once again thank you for your help

If it is a really old motherboard it is a Siemens-Nixdorf.
Some Siemens-Nixdorf here:
486: http://www.thegreenhouse.us/th99/m/...
Pentium Socket 4, 5, or 7: http://www.thegreenhouse.us/th99/m/...
Pentium II or III: http://www.thegreenhouse.us/th99/m/...
....

If it is a newer motherboard it is a Fujitsu-Siemens
http://www.fujitsu-siemens.com/

Most manuals are available in at least both English and German.

If this motherboard is in it's original case, look for the system number - SNR:xxxxxxx

If it is not in it's original case, or in any circumstance, look for a label on the motherboard with the motherboard model number - Dxxxx

Search with (SNR:)xxxxxxx or Dxxxx here:
http://support.fujitsu-siemens.com/...

If you do find a Dxxxx Model that fits what you have, you can also go here
http://manuals.fujitsu-siemens.com/
- choose personal computers (applies to almost all of them)
- peripherals/components
- systemboards/mainboards
- systemboards/mainboards - manuals
- language (sometimes only English or German is actually available)
- scroll down to e.g. System Board Dxxxxx Technical Manual
....

If you don't see a Dxxxxx label....

Try going to this page. Find a description that fits your mboard. Click on the highlighted Dxxxxx to view it's mboard manual; RIGHT click on it's link, choose Save Target As to download it.
http://www.fujitsu-siemens.co.uk/rl...
......

These are general system manuals only - nothing specific about the mboard, other than generally about the battery.
These are example guesses of what your case might be.

go here
http://manuals.fujitsu-siemens.com/
- choose personal computers
(slimline case)
- professional pcs (applies to almost all of them)
- e.g. Scenic D
- language
- e.g. Scenic D Operating Manual
Click on the manual link to view it; RIGHT click on it's link, choose Save Target As to download it.
OR
(regular desktop case)
- archive
- e.g. Scenic Pro
- language
- e.g. Scenic Pro D Operating Manual
Click on the manual link to view it; RIGHT click on it's link, choose Save Target As to download it.
(for this example - Some pages that should be at the beginning are at the end.)

Dear Mr Eagle - I think the reason you found the manual in German is that you were in the German website.

The Nixdorf site takes you to:-

http://www.fujitsu-siemens.de/

This being the German site, almost at the top of the page on the left is a link to:-

Corporate Website in ????

This links to the various countries and their respective websites.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.
