|Windows XP is inconsistent in recognizing my usb backup hard drive; (seagate 500gb internal sata drive placed in Sabrent usb HD enclosure; 3 partitions/2 primary: 7.81mb-primary, 232gb-logical, 232gb-logical). Sometimes Xp gives an error message- device not recognize/ may not work properly. Sometimes installs it as a cd-rom drive only. Sometimes recognizes & lists all of the drives (H, I, J), plus adds one non-existent cd-rom drive (g; in addition to the 2 actual optical drives, E, F). (Primary local drive is C/D, 2 partitions). |
I want to use this drive as a back up drive for Norton Ghost program; I can't always access backup data due to problems. Ghost also oddly will not allow me to run backups as if this is an external drive... warning me it is not best to backup to the SAME drive, even though that is not what I did. I wonder if this confusion in the Norton Ghost program will be a problem if I ever need to do a restore from the data I backed up to this usb external drive. And I'd rather not have a hassel every time I try to use this usb external drive.
