Get Error 333 trying to restore system on my Sony Vaio

Specs: Windows 7
I'm using Sony Vaio recovery discs with a new hard drive but at 2% of the formatting process it fails and states "Error 333" "An error occurred while executing an application." I know the discs are good because I used them before on a similar hard drive (and actually have two sets of discs) and I've tried the restore process with two different new hard drives (the first a 500 gb Western Digital I received under warranty and a second a Western Digital 320 gb hard drive I bought from Best Buy). The computer recognizes the hard drives and loads the recovery files from the discs, but it fails at 2% of the formatting process. Sony provided no help at all, just said it might be a "hardware" compatibility issue. Thanks for your advice in advance!

Test your memory with Memtest86 since a bad memory segment can cause all kinds of problems including what you are seeing. In fact the problem you had that caused you to replace your hard drive could actually have been a memory problem. Memtest can run from a bootable CD that you can make from any windows machine so the hard drive does not need to be installed.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
