I have a problem with my xD memory card reader, I believe it's a GL827, but I am not sure. When I plug it in, I recieve the error message in device manger for "Genesys USB Mass Storage Device": Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)". I tried uninstalling it and plugging it back in so the computer could reinstall it, but it didn't work. I no longer have the software, if there was any, that came with the product. I would appreciate it if you have any solutions to my problem or if you could provide me with the software or drivers I could use to fix it. Don't really understand, the drive worked great before this. It's just a small slot that plugs into a usb port, similar in size/shape to a usb key, and you insert the xD card.
Thanks...No time for love, Dr. Jones!
How much will Last Good Config set me back and would System Restore do a similar job?

I have had the same problem. Check device manager, if there is a question mark against a usb controller, go to properties & roll back the driver. If you then do a windows update, it will suggest an update for this, don't do it.

I had the same problem and the rollback worked for me. When I rolled back I noticed it was rolling back to a driver dated 2001 but interestingly the driver on the windows update site which caused the problem was dated June 08 2000

I have a Code 19 problem.
My registry no longer recognizes my CD/Rom drive.
I have tried all the troubleshooting tips--to update, rollback or uninstall and reinstall the Drive D, and it does not work. I keep getting the Code 19 message.
I cannot access the registry editor to modify the key.So--since the computer does not recognize my CD/Rom, can I reinstall my operating system? I will have to reinstall from disk.
Will the reinstall procedure whereby you erase the partitions before you reinstall from disk erase the faulty parts of the registry, or will it not read the disk with my reinstall operating system on it?

I had the same problem and solved it by doing the following:
Double click the Genesys USB Mass Storage Device -> Driver tab -> Update Driver -> "No, not this time" -> Advanced -> Don't Search -> "USB Mass Storage Device" -> Next, etc...
Prog.
