I would just like some feedback about my PC and if anyone has any input as to what could be done to make it better, that would be great. You can see from my Signature what the specs of my PC are. I use my PC for basic use (Internet, Word Processing, etc...) and some gaming (BioShock, Assassin's Creed, etc...). The games I play run pretty good, I would just like to make them run without any lag at all if possible. The only things I can really think of doing are:

Upgrade the RAM from 1x1GB DDR2 667 Single Channel to 2x1GB DDR2 800 Dual Channel (not sure what brand yet)

Upgrade the GFX Card to something like an 8800 Ultra or if there is something out there that is less expensive but can perform close to it.

Possibly upgrade the PSU its only 465W and I only paid $50 for it.

PC1:
- Asus M2V-MX SE
- Athlon 64 4200+ X2 @ 2.2GHz
- 1GB DDR2 @ 667MHz
- nVidia GeForce 8500GT 512MB OC @ 729/932MHz

PC2:
- Core2Duo Laptop/1GB DDR2

That's a great idea.

The 8800GTS 512MB. 3 times cheaper, only 10% slower.

What are the specs of your 465w PSU? It may not need to be upgraded.

Encoded:
24 Laserdiscs (480p AVC @ 2.0Mbps, Dolby 2.0 @ 224Kbps)
130 DVDs (480p AVC @ 2.5Mbps, DTS 5.1 @ 768Kbps)
47 Blu-Ray (1080p AVC @ 12.5Mbps, DTS 5.1 @ 1.5Mbps)
32 HD-DVD (same as BR

Upgrading suggests 'replacing existing'.

What is gained if you upgrade to something that performs slower, in this case 10%, and why?

Good Luck - Keep us posted.

I have an nVidia 8500GT. The 10% slower only refers to the 8800GTS which is only 10% slower then the 8800Ultra so it would be a good idea to just get the GTS considering the price tag on the Ultra is $700+ as opposed to $300 - $400 & the 10% speed loss won't bother me.
