I’ve had my Xtasy Geforce 4 Ti4600 for about 8 months and everything has been working great until recently. Now every time I try and play just about any game they start to freeze up a lot along with a lot of clipping going on. This happens on resolutions and settings that worked fine before and also on the lowest settings I can put for the games. I’ve turned off AA, anisotropic filtering, lowered my resolution. I’ve reinstalled directx, I’ve checked to make sure I have the latest bios, I’ve checked to make sure my bios was set for AGP and is set correctly. I thought it might be my drivers but I’ve uninstalled the latest nvidia drivers, and tried a variety of older drivers including the ones, by vision tek. I’ve double checked that my page file is set ok, my hd has enough space. But nothing I try seems to improve anything. Can anyone give me any suggestions please?!

Have you tried reseating the card? Just take it out and put it back in again. Sometimes corrosion on the contacts can be a problem. It occurs on its own after a length of time, especially if the contacts on the card are a different metal to the mobo.

Check the fan on the card. My friend has a PNY GeForce4 Ti4600 and one day he mentioned to me that all his 3D games were locking up, but he could surf the net and such without problem. After we went through the usual troubleshooting like drivers, direct x, etc, we checked the fan on the video card. It wasn't spinning. When we took the side off the case, and blew a standard house fan onto the card we found he could play 3D games without the lockups. I suggest you return the card for warranty repair or replacement, if it is only 8 months old it should still be covered. Good luck.
