Someone once told me that a TV has a refresh rate of 30, compared to 60-70 on monitors.
So, If I hooked up my computer to a TV and played a game and it ran a little choppoy, would it run smoother on the TV display?

Higher refresh rates are better when running your CRT or LCD to reduce eye strain and to reduce screen flickering. I would use your monitor not your TV for gaming. Cause TV have fixed resolutions and low refresh rates. but if you want you can use the TV for everything else, I presume that your TV is bigger than your monitor right.
if i am not mistaken...but most of these gaming cards have a tv-out for that very reason to play games on your tv...i have a Ti-4200 and hooked it up to a 30 inch toshiba, the divx movies and streaming video from the internet looked pretty damn good...the desktop on the other hand looked bad....i ran 3d Mark 2001 on my tv and i was amazed on how clearer and brighter it was on the tv than my monitor
