Geforce fx 5200 help?

I recently bought a Geforce FX 5200, because i was after a half decent budget card, but, it seems to be giving me really poor results... Its performance seems to varying a lot, e.g, on counterstrike ill be getting 30-60fps (on opengl mode, if that makes a difference) when on my old geforce 2mx i was getting 100 Also, i was playing c and c generals fine one minute, but the next, its stuttering like hell Ive installed the drivers, etc, anyone have any ideas?
