The fan in my old 32 meg Diamond Viper 770 Ultra is dying, so I bought a 3DForce2 MX-64. It works, but the display is a bit smudged - looking closely at the screen, character edges are not as crisp, and it looks like there's a bit of a black "smear" to the right. When I put the Diamond Viper back in, everything is fine again. I'm told my card slots are "2x" (not sure what that means), and the GeForce box says "2x/4x" compatible. However, the little booklet that came with the card says "4x" required. I have not been able to find any settings or drivers that fix the problem. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks - Doug.

this should look likeyer card. at least thats what yer specs brought up.
it is 2X compatible.2X, 4X, and now 8X AGP is the speed at which the vid card runs essentially.
* is top of line now, 4 has been out for awhile, 2 is before 4.
try getting the lastest drivers for your vid card from the link above and make sure u got the newest version of DirectX from microsoft.

whoops,
try thishttp://db.jaton.com/asp/search.asp?numperpage=1&images=on&display=full&category=&searchstr=82118-P064MBA0&searchfield=itemid

Squirrel - thanks for the attempted help. I tried both downloading the latest DirectX stuff from MS and downloaded and installed drivers from Jaton (in fact, I had gone through this with Jaton tech support last week, and that didn't help then, either).
In any case, the results were the same. So, as the easy way out, I managed to buy a new Diamond Viper on eBay and am going to return the GeForce card.
Related to this, this morning I also tried an older GeForce2 Ultra card from another computer, and it works fine, but it has a noisy fan, too (!). Now I'm trying to figure out whether I can replace that fan, but it's mounted to the board with two spring-on-post arrangements with no visible screws or anything for removal. If you know how I might be able to do this, I'd appreciate any tips.
Thanks - Doug
