I currently have a Geforce ti4200 card in my home system. I actually do little gaming, but can get a Geforce 6200 oc card for $50 brand new. Could anyone compare these for me spec wise. Knowledge is limited on cards. Also, would the upgrade be worthwhile to play games such as farcry or half life 2? Also, how is the OC capability of the 6200? Thank you very much for your input.

you will not be able to play farcry/HL2 very well with a 6200. does your mobo have an agp[brown slot] or a pci[white slot]? i personally do not have a 6200. but i had a 6600 pci card and farcry wasnt very pretty at playable framerates. ive upgraded to a 7600 and its capable of HL2 at 1280x1024 maxed everything.

a $50 upgrade imho is not really worth it. you might want to look at $100-$130 for a pretty good gaming experience with most games... however, the 8600 is coming out with dx10 next month so that may drop some prices around and u might want to wait and drop more money on that which would last u much longer. technology is one big strategy game lol spend and wait, or wait and spend.

how well can you play those games now? at what resolutions? $50 for a 6200 isn't bad, and the card will perform better than your ti4200..i think your money would be better saved for a new system, that barton's getting out of date quick, and for either of those games you'd benefit from another 512mb of ram.

Also for the other poster, the ti4200 was agp only, so OP has an agp slot
