my system-abit fatality fp-in9 sli, intel core 2 duo 2.2 clocked to 2.4, geforce 8500gt, 4 gigs ram. my question, to those of you who know more than i, is would it be worth getting a second 8500gt for sli hook up or just spend the xtra dough on something abit stronger

Personally I would save and go with something stronger such as geforce 8800gt or atleast a geforce 8600gt. However I read an article lately that states two geforce 8500gt's in sli perform fairly good, having the ability to average a 50-60% gain in performance compared to solely one geforce 8500gt. Then again it barely keeps up to a single geforce 8600gt. Your choice, if you game I would consider getting a stronger card.

The 8500GT is a low end entry level DX10 card. And if you have the DDR2 version, it makes matters worse. Sell it & buy something better. If you don't wanna spend a lot, you can get an 8600 GTS for about $80 after rebate.

Summary: I believe you tried to use that link to back your theory before. The 8500GT's used in that article have the GPU factory overclocked so stating that 2x 8500GT will beat a single 8600GT in all benchmark...
