Hi, I'm here again! I recently installed a Gainward Geforce 4 MX420 PCI into my machine. Problem is it only allows me in on safe mode with new drivers, games lock up when using last good configuration. Any ideas whether I should flick a switch to disable my onboard graphics, mb is PC Chips 841 LMR, Help Please, surely I can't be the first, there's no help anywhere!
I've tried:-
Latest drivers & bios using Product number,
Disabling Shared memory
Closing Zonealarm!Thx :-)

Hi Pete..
I had an awful time with my Gainward MX200 card installing the drivers.
Finally I didn't follow the directions they gave, and installed the NVidia drivers thru Device Manager, and they started working. That was after trying to do it their way, installing the "Faster Gainward Drivers" **-ad infinitum**Gainward alson has a graphics acclerator that they ship with some of their cards called Card Expert; I had to remove my Card Expert program because it would repeatedly crash my system and corrupt the video drivers, and the card would overheat with heavy rendering (Mech Warrior4), create artifacts and color shifts on my monitor, and if I didn't stop ("I've almost won, just one more enemy to kill") it would crash my system.
All-in-all, I have not had a great experience with Gainward.
I might suggest that you disable any onboard graphics if you have it. Two video procesors currently active are going to fight with each other for resource and IRQ access.
