Hi everyone,
I've been having some trouble with my 6-year old Gateway desktop. I'm not sure what model it is since I ordered it custom made in 2003 but it resembles the E-Series.
Anyway, my problem has been on my desktop for a long time but I don't think it's a software problem (directly). Let me explain what happens. Whenever I open up a set of programs and possibly two CPU intensive programs like VNC and Firefox, depending on a matter of time and the amount of processing, it will click and restart from the BIOS screen. A friend told me it could be a RAM issue but I have 768 MB and my performance meter never ran close to high.
When I play video games, I never get this problem. It's strange since I don't know what causes it but I assume it's CPU over usage. I had VNC open with Firefox the other day and when the computer on the other end of my VNC connection went into screensaver mode, it was roughly 3 seconds later that it just clicked and rebooted.
Any ideas on what this could be? Thanks for your help!
