Gateway Notebook CD Errror

my gateway notebook gave this error message at boot it wont allow me to boot with windows xp disc error 0200: failure Fixed disk 1
press to resume, to Setup
This happened out of nowhere and after a while it gives this msg when i press f1

Could it be the cable getting screwed up or something???
