Specs: N/A
i have a 21" gateway monitor model lp2407 it used to go black, every once and a while, and if i waited (or hit the top) the picture would come back, but sadly the picture has not come back. I am willing to change some caps or what ever it takes to fix it i just need some direction.

Well, could be CAPS (which is most common cause) or the LED ?!
Anyway ... if you open it up ... the bad CAPS will be "swollan" and look different to the right ones, so if you replace those, make sure you got the right OHM etc.

Hi Chef, if you are unable to repair your monitor, suggest taking it to a backstreet electronic (not computer) repair shop.

Here in the UK, there are now many of these. Generally they inspect for free, then quote for the repair.

You decide whether it is worth it or not.

Please advise back what you decide.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.

Caps aren't measured in Ohms, they are measured in farrads, or more precise, micro and pico farrads and the voltage they can handle.

If hitting it on the top would get it to work, chances are it's a loose connection or possibly a broken trace or bad solder joint on the circuit board. If you are up to working on it yourself, start with re-seating any connectors inside and see if that helps.

I would then follow Mike's suggestion and take it to a repair shop to see if it's worth getting fixed.
