Gateway monitor black screen

March 13, 2010 at 07:58:30
Specs: Windows XP, 256

My monitor goes black and then comes back on when I restart my computer. It will stay on for a few seconds and then go black again. Now when I plug in another monitor, that one will work just fine, no problem. So what could be wrong with my other monitor? One works fine and one does not.

... an overloaded resistor perhaps(?) ...in this throw-away society its a "duff" monitor unless you know how to fix it!

... sounds like something is effected by heat (expansion?)

That sounds like an LCD monitor with a defective inverter or the CCFL lamp. If you are really handy, they can be repaired. But purchasing a new monitor might be a better option.
